*Note: Applicants planning to start their research in March 2026 (applying in November 2025) must be enrolled in a graduate degree program (master's or doctoral).

How to Apply

Step 1: Find a prospective supervisor

Please find a prospective academic advisor at the Graduate School of Science and Technology and receive permission from them to research under their supervision.
You can search our faculty members from Staff Profile .

Step2: Prepare application documents and submit online

After receiving permission from your prospective academic advisor, prepare the application documents and submit all required documents through the "Application Form".
Applicants are required to submit all required documents during the application period.

Step 3: Pay the fee by the due date

After your acceptance, we will send you information for paying the required fees. Once the payment is complete, we will start the application procedure to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility for your visa application.

Required Application Documents

Applicants must complete and submit the following documents through the Application Form .

0. Checklist (Form 0)

1. Application Form with ID photo (Form 1)

2. Agreement Form (Form 2)

3. Research Plan (Form 3)

4. Compliance with Visiting Student Policies (Form 4)

5. Pledge for "Security Export Controls under the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act" (Form 5)

*Please read the statement, write the date, your name and signature

6. Certificate of Enrollment from Home University (English Ver.)
Please submit a document issued by your home institution with your expected graduation date. If your home institution cannot issue a certificate, please contact our office (email: ic-yagami@adst.keio.ac.jp).

7. Application for Dormitory (Form 6)

*Only applicable to students who wish to apply for Keio University dormitories.

*Please read the Dormitory Information carefully and apply through the Application Form .

8. Application for Certificate of Eligibility (COE)

* The Certificate of Eligibility is one of the required documents for your student visa application. Please attach digital data of your ID photo on the first page. Please refer here for the required photo specifications.

** To maintain your student visa, you are required to research for at least 10.5 hours per week during your period at Keio.

9. Photocopy of passport (ID page)

10. Photo data for COE and Student ID card (3 x 4 cm, jpg format)
