Keio University and Aachen University of Technology have maintained interchanges for a long period of time. For half a century of close ties with The Faculty of Science and Technology since 1956, it has been the first official visit to Keio University by President of Aachen University of Technology. This year is the German Year in Japan, and the lecture presentation was held as one of events for “German Year @ Keio University.”
After giving an outline of the history and the present situation of Aachen University of Technology, Prof. Rauhut made an impassioned speech, lightening it with humor, how Aachen University of Technology maintains advantages as unique university and evolves further more, as well as strategic planning, in consideration of German and European higher education systems for which forward-looking movements for drastic reform are being made.
The lecture presentation was very well attended with standing audience, including lots of researchers who were sent to Aachen University of Technology in the past. The presentation, followed by an active question and answer session, came to an end successfully.
In 2006, Aachen University of Technology and Keio University mark the 50th Anniversary for Interchange. Before the lecture, Prof. Raufut had a familiar talk with Prof. Inasaki, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, which may indicate even closer ties between the two universities.
It is scheduled by The International Center that application to the exchange student program for Aachen University of Technology in 2006 is accepted in October 2005. Please see this page for more detail.
