Abstract:
This three-day tutorial course provides an overview of the theory and practical approaches for multiuser MIMO. After revisiting the basic notionsrelated to the MIMO channel as well as multiuser communications, we study the theory of MIMO broadcast channels/multiple access channels. The theoretical part includes the achievability, the duality, and the converse proof. Then, we relax the strong assumption of perfect channel state information at transmitter (CSIT) and consider more practical approaches under general CSIT. This part includes the precoder design, feedback strategies to obtain CSIT, the quality of CSIT and its impact on multiplexing gain. If time allows, we also discuss recent results on delayed CSIT.
